I am so almost done with school...I can feel it.  Next Tuesday is my last day for the year.  YIPPEEE!!!!   I got my student teaching placements for next year and I'm pretty happy with them.  I'll be in Kindergarten in Warren Township first semester, a school called Sunny Heights Elementary.  Is that not the cutest name for an elementary school?  Aaron said I'd fit in well there.  Whatever does he mean?    I'll be in Franklin Township second semester in an MI-(Mild Intervention)  Special Education classroom at Acton Elementary.  I know some kids that go there, so it would be nice to be able to see them everyday!  We'll see how these 2 different experiences go!

I really need to get back to homework now...but before I do...a kid-story from my (not so) lovely 5th graders!

Abdi: Are you a teacher in training?
    Me: Yes, I am.
Abdi: Why do you want to be a teacher?
Me: Because I like to work with kids and help them learn!
Abdi: Whatever, that's what everybody says.
    Me:
Abdi: You're just in it for the money....
Me: (thinking, you've got to be kidding me!)
Me: There's definitely no money there, TRUST ME!

Another student in the class has a "crush" on a married colleague of mine...great.  He told her the other day that he would murder her husband....not so great.  Good thing we're almost done in that class!

    Goodnight!

    Happy Valentine's Day!

Nothing quite makes your Valentine's Day like...

a man hitting on you...at Wal-Mart... in the baby clothes section...
finding a nickel on the ground to add to my Hawaii fund...
one of my fourth graders, Barbara, saying, "I like your hair!"...
    and...
my sister sending me the SWEETEST Valentine's Day e-card ever!  Thanks, Shelly Dawn!

Tell those special people in your life how much you love them,
    whether you're married or not, Valentine's Day celebrates love;
God's love for us and our love for each other!  Love you all!

"A Valentine may play a love song for you,
but God sings you the sweetest love song in the universe."

Testify to Love: The Very Best of Avalon
    By Avalon
    Can't Live a Day
    see related

Do you ever go back and listen to some of your old favorite songs from years past?  I've been listening to one of those kinds of songs lately, Can't Live a Day by Avalon.  It's 8 years old, but it's like the words are new to me.  Especially the first few lines, "I could live life alone, never fill the longings of my heart, the healing warmth of someone's arms..."  I CAN live without a husband, I CAN live without dreams, I CAN live without money, or anything else the world can offer me.  But I CAN'T live without the Lord.  Not one day.  I am nothing without Him.  Oh, how I need to keep this in mind 24 hours a day.  It's a great song.  I think I'll sing it in church some day and just belt it out.

    Can't Live a Day

    I could live life alone,

never fill the longings of my heart,

the healing warmth of someone's arms

    I could live without dreams,

never know the thrill of what could be,

with every star so far and out of reach.

I could live without many things,

but if you weren't in it all

    Chorus:

I COULDN'T FACE MY LIFE TOMORROW,

WITHOUT YOUR HOPE IN MY HEART I KNOW

    I can't live a day without you.

Lord, there's no night and there's no morning

without your loving arms to hold me

you're the heartbeat of all I do

    I can't live a day without you.

    I could travel the world

see all the wonders beautiful and new

they'd only make me think of you

I could have all life offers,

riches that were far beyond compare

to grant my every wish without a care

I could live without many things

But if you weren't in it all

Jesus, I live because you live

you're like the air I breathe

    Jesus, I have because give

    you're everything to me

What a great song.  I think I'll sing it in church some day and just belt it out.
